Daiquiri
The name of an iron mine near Santiago, Cuba, the Daiquiri was supposedly invented by an American mining engineer named Jennings Cox, who was there at the time of the Spanish–American War.

Ingredients
1.5 oz Flor de Cana rum
.75 oz Cointreau
.75 oz lime juice
Lemon wheel (for garnish)
Granulated sugar (if desired)
Method
Coat the rim of a coupe glass with granulated sugar (if desired) and set aside
Add rum, Cointreau, and lime juice to a shaker with ice and shake until well-chilled
Strain into the prepared glass
Garnish with lemon wheel
